Star

by Ana   Jul 27, 2006

In the perpetual darkness of night
Sleeps a distant, vibrant light
As it gleams with all its might

Watching the world from its place
Like a caring mother's face
Because it's light's only trace

The beauty of the night's dark sky
Stuns the many passers-by
Bringing peace, or at least try

Love is like this brilliant star
How we wonder what you are
As it tries to live to par

Yet even the most beautiful things
Stop the tune it always sings
Falls like birds without their wings

The distant star, it fades to black
At your heart, it starts to hack
And meaning's what your life will lack

Love was carefree, gentle, nice
But now it's numbing you like ice
Changes from virtue right to vice
