The heart is deceitful above all things

by Allison   Jul 31, 2006

You saw the dotted lines, so you took a stab at it.

you cut my heart out and filled it with needles, then said find the hay.

you took my eyes that had glown with love, and replaced them with ice.

you took the firm ground i stood on with safety, and pulled it from under my feet.

you replaced it with an endless pile of hot coals.

you snatched my chair of meaning from right under me.

you gave my best friend away in my sleep.

you took away my castle, which i once called home.

you took away my love and made me numb.

i once had a heart. after many beatings, it still came through

but it was ripped and torn apart, all because of you.
