And the Rain Kept Me Company

by Sorefromreality   Aug 3, 2006

Sobbing miserably in the cold confines of my room
on the rough carpet, i roll over in agony
with absence to hold me
and no one to keep me company

mascara dripping down my face
i hobble up the stairs
i walk to the front door
and slip out into the rainstorm

i wander down the road
rain lightly dripping onto my body
with my now wet sweatpants and t-shirt clinging to my body
and no one to keep me company

i stop dead in my tracks
a few hundred yards down the street
i lower to the ground
as tears trickle down my cheeks

i curl up and hold myself
and i slowly shut my eyes
all my energy and worries gradually pour out of me
i lay there in the street, not wanting to say goodbye

minutes pass and i drift into bliss
as the rain comes down harder from the sky
and to think that just before this
i wanted so badly to die

my sadness no longer engulping me
i can go on, at least for a while longer
and when i think of my life and love
i feel so much stronger

i lied there in silence, away from everything
i curled up in the street and escaped reality
i lied on road as the storm covered me like a blanket
and the rain kept me company

Dude, omg, i LOVE rain! lol...this was an AWESOME poem!! I loved it! I always say: "if you don't want people to see you crying, cry in the rain because nobody knows they're tears..." and you pretty much showed that in your poem! lol GREAT use of words...everything flowed perfectly...5/5!! :)
