I rather be...

by ivan070   Aug 4, 2006

I rather lose you as my friend;
Than to harbor my love secretly
For the pain is unbearable;

I rather be the gracious loser;
Than a arrogant winner;
For I see the education in defeat;

I rather be simple and happy;
Than to live for material riches;
For I may be blinded by greed;

I rather be a silly fool;
Than a smart Alec
For he is a greater idiot;

I rather be a quiet man;
Than to speak unnecessarily;
For silence is golden;

I rather be the innocent victim;
Than the perpetrator;
For the pain shall always be mine;

I rather be blind and deaf;
Than to see and hear evil;
And to live with regrets...

I rather dream my life away
Than to live aimlessly;
For a dream is the path way to miracles...

    I like this poem. Not quite sure just yet as to why but it certainly grabbed and kept my attention! Good job!
