The Dance

by Mighty442   Aug 6, 2006

The music starts, the lights go dim
You're sitting in your seat, you look up at him
He saw you from across the room and asked if you wanted to dance
You're skeptical at first but you gave him a chance
He took your hand in his as you raised from your seat
A new song plays as the last one completes
As you reach the dance floor he pulls you in close
You're scared at first but you don't let it show
As if he could read you, he says, trust me, it will be fine
For some reason you do as things start to align
Slowly it begins, the fluid motions in time
Pulsating rhythms as feelings sublime
You rest your head on his shoulder as you continue to sway
Sweet melodies plays and the night drifts away
With every beginning there must be an end
With every end it will begin again
Bodies part as you both start to drift
What once was one, now is a rift
You let go of his hand, it felt so surreal
Can no longer read all the emotions concealed
One last look in his eyes as you start to walk away
No more tactile sensation but all the feelings and memories remain
If only one more song, if only one more dance
If only one more embrace, if only one more glance
Before hopes fades, another song plays
And another chance to make him stay
