Grandma

by jessica   Aug 9, 2006

Sitting here wishing
I could see her big brown sparkling eyes
Just one more time
And have the smell of butterscotch candy
Rise to my sunburned nose
I could hug her one last time and
Tell her how much I love her
Memories from far back swirl around in my full head
Sitting silently on her unmade bed
We worked
We crossed, pulled and pushed
We laughed and told stories from
years before
Her soft hands knitted so fast
While her freshly painted nails glistened
From the sun shining through the window
She taught me how to knit and
Many life lessons
On the way I will never forget
On that hot summer day
The feeling that I had
When I started watching my grandmother fade away
