My Ship

by Marie   Aug 9, 2006

My ship has not set sail
as it builds a fear of violent waves
while they clash against the rocks,
it watches the ways that they behave.

They whirl among each other
and subside before they hit the shore
as they calmly take back what they gave,
and hold it deep within their core.

My ship awaits so patiently
to sail the waves of the brutal storm
but the fear it harbors won't settle down,
and it lurks the dock 'til the waves have torn.

The dynamic waves try so hard
to grasp my ship with all their might
as they collapse beyond their reach,
they can't hold on and lose the fight.

And so my ship is sailing through
the waves of its own fears;
they grip it strongly deep inside
but they aren't the waves that they appear.

My ship's been sailing for so long
yet at the same time it waits until
the sudden sways of the roaring sea,
are finally settled and staying still.
