Dying Rose

by Mel   Aug 11, 2006

A dying rose
set on his grave
he'll be remembered
for what he gave

the day he went up
the burning tower
saving lives
that fateful hour

over and over
up he went
saving lives
an angel sent

risking his life
this man was a hero
now just another body
laying at ground zero

just one of thousands
to die that day
a dying rose
set on his grave

Mel, this was a real tribute to all of those who risk their lives that day . I live not too far from NY ,I wish you could have seen the two spotlights shining into the heavens , where the towers had once stood, It was so eerie, but beautiful. very nice poem!
