Sleep walker

by Lenny   Aug 11, 2006

Drifting, floating,
On sodden dreams,
Tear soaked and starved
They filter hope

The nightmare flails
A curse and burden
The passion addictive,
Erodes her head,

Trance inducing
The allure, the attraction,
Like nose to scent
The flesh succumbs

And follow, follow
Uncertain footsteps
Limber one
before the next,

Stupor, stumble,
Obstacles intruding
The path of the lost
Is not making sense,

And trip and tread
She stoops and falters,
Along the path
Her mind instructs

And then it stops,
Like train to station
And her memory unloads
And she switches lives

And her coma slips
Past recollection
To the summit of
Disregard

And again she drifts
Back to her slumber
And walks the night
Sleepwalker sleeps. . .

Seventh stanza was my favorite; how the metaphor tied in with the earlier metaphor of the third stanza so well.. no crits, nicelydone
