The Bayou.

by Katie.   Aug 14, 2006

Deep in the South Louisiana land,
Is a place that will always understand.
Still and quiet with a coat of dew,
Lies the freedom of the bayou.

The pirogue slides through without care,
Parting a way where only few will dare.
Go ahead and cry out all your tears,
The bayou will soak up all of your fears.

The bayou won't judge you on your looks,
Or what you know from all your books.
It simply asks you to keep the peace,
For all of your worries to simple cease.

All it wants is to live each day,
Without humans getting in the way.
Yet we can't even follow one simple command,
For companies are still trying to expand.

This gorgeous, peaceful life will be gone,
Being played in life just like a pawn.
Love this land, not for it's worth,
But since it's a miracle of our Earth.
