If this world were mine

If i were left to myself
how would my world be
if everything in my world
was set up according to me

what would be the law
that would govern my way of life
would it have enough provisions
would it ease the masses plight

would my house rise to the clouds
and live amongst the trees
or would it not disturb the landscape
and be buried underneath

would I allow the air to be disturbed
or the cattle to become mad cow
the education would be about the truth
so we could rise somehow

our children would know the art
of the ying and the yang
we would speak a proper language
and let go of all the slang

we would live by the law of God
the law of our creation
we would live in a world of high discipline
and very low temptation

the spoken word would be the power
though fear would have it's place
but it would be based on infinite wisdom
not the color of my face

and as mother earth has her days of
floods, famine and quakes
I'm sure we'll have our days pain
no ice cream and no cake.

I know that the test of life
for all will still be the same
but the way we handle our trials and lost
would have a different frame

death would be a celebration
we're sending you back home
where birth would be a day of decision
so our babies will not roam

choice would be a freedom
not lightly taken to heart
it would be the gift of freedom
that choice will even start

and thirteen would be the age
that responsible life began
not waiting till your twenty-one
before showing you understand

you will know how to live your life
and work will not be a choice
until you prove your independence
can be trusted by your voice.

your word will be the determining factor
as to how you plan to live
but your actions will be close regarded
as to how much god will give.

if this world were mine
there would be a celebration tonight
thankful to break bread with people
who understand my fight

my prayer to the most high
would be to let my children rise
no more living someone else's dreams
no more compromise

let their minds be filled with the love
that you dear lord express
let the love they show be based on
truth not based on someones mess.
