Light

Light
----------
You peel off of me like
The memory of cotton candy
Then hurry back like
The one I keep for me
Of indoor roller coasters and
Merry-go-rounds.
Those were the days
But these are the ones and ways
That I love you.
I say goodbye like
The memory of a broken toy
Then say hello, again, like
The one I lost of me
Opening presents at the tree.
The simple thought and all
The experiences we've fallen on
Have no words that package them
So...
Maybe I can make you feel the same
As the memory of first seeing you
The memory of that first kiss, then
Hold you here like the one I keep for us
Of holding one another, shaking naked smiles.
