The Fallen Honoured

by Ross   Aug 19, 2006

I come to you unknown
By choices made and done
Lifting the banner; a call to arms
Prised from your cold hard hands

I know you, friend
I shook your hand, with eyes that understood
We looked, we saw the task before
When others turned and fled

With Sadness and a new resolve I stand before the dark
And shifting sands and shallow hearts to draw the strength like death
I see you now, a crumpled mess, a hollowed shell, a lie
But what you left, a legacy that I can confirm

I'll leave you now, and thank you

Maybe one day I can be there too
