This Poem Has No Title

by Nicole Ling   Aug 22, 2006

PART ONE:

She begins life with just a breath,
Into her new world what will await?
Will she remain happy and innocent as a child should be?
Why do you ask, you say,
In a moment you will know why my questions seem so strange,
You see, her life was full of trouble and disappointment,
Father he was not,
But mother was mother,
She and the young ones that followed,
Followed her in this dark and dank place,
The smell was disgusting and the feeling just as gross,
Poor little ones had no choice,
Born into a despicable world that didn't want them,
So it seemed as their light quivered with the draft in the night,
Father was angry,
Mother tried to console but still her poor little ones would just fade.

PART TWO:

So now she is grown up and up and now out,
Out of the home which was her torture,
Time for the others to follow, she would wonder,
Yes now she has accomplished things to be proud of,
Now never discouraged,
She made herself her own,
She and success walked hand in hand,
Besides all the good she established within her own land,
Just as when she had taken her first breath,
Into a world of possibilities,
Her loved one she found finally and utterly.

PART THREE:

Just live and breathe for you never know what tomorrow will bring,
Our first breath matters most,
For we will live our lives and make ourselves the persons we ought to be,
Just breathe.
