I Ran Far Enough...

by JAMIE   Aug 23, 2006

I had a lot on my mind.
And so did Heidi.
So instead of the usual,
Sit alone and cry the way home.
We decided to sit together,
And share our emotions.

Talked about the day.
And also some other things.
But one stuck out the most.

You told me about your friend,
That you lost along the way.
And how, for many reasons,
You felt really bad.

While you were talking about him,
And how you wished you,
Could just take back time.
Just to say "I'm sorry."
And maybe things would be different.

Hearing you talk about him,
Even cry over the thought of him.
Even in the dark,
I could see the pain on your face.

Then I thought about my problem,
And how people actually do care.
I know that all my friends,
Have thought about the worst.

Seeing the pain, the regret.
Now I understand it all.
Why you want to help so much.
Because you went through years,
Of nothing but pain and tears.
And you didn't want to,
Go through that all over again.

All of this, that we talked about,
Reminded me of this quote:
"Sometimes you have to,
Run away just to see who cares."
... And I think that,
I ran far enough...
