Hope Given By An Angel

by Kyleene   Aug 24, 2006

I poured my heart and soul into our relationship
Tried my hardest to keep things calm
To keep everything still
But then you said something
To disrupt the quiet I had produced
You did it to upset me
To randomly start a fight
While you cussed at me
Remarked on my appearance and attitude
I kept my lips pressed tightly shut
Arguing would have only made things worse
As the screaming continued
I threatened to leave
And a pain ran across my cheek as your hand fell upon my face
I yelled in rage and slunk to the floor
Your fists pounded me
Felt like stones along my body
For a moment the hurting stopped
As you took a swig of liquor
And then the rock-hard fists began the hitting again
I soon drifted into unconsciousness
Though the beating did not cease for quite some time
Soon I slowly woke from a peaceful slumber,
I tried to open my eyes
But I could not
I heard kind voices of dear friends call to me
Telling me that I was safe
And as I slipped back into sleep
I realized that you were no longer hurting me
And that I could restart my life with actual happiness
Because I was saved by an angel
An angel that told me that after the pain,
Life would spring into beauty
And hope was planted in my soul
