To see you in my dreams

As the nights slowly fade to darkness,
And your face is no longer in my head,
I can't help but wake up in the middle of the night,
Thinking of the things you said.

The ones where you talked of us,
And where you told me those three simple words.
'I love you' crossed my mind for a minute,
And back into darkness I lured.

Just to hear your soft voice in my dreams,
I drift into my sleep.
Remembering the way we parted,
I wake up & weep.

The dreams I used to have,
Were the ones that made me laugh.
Now the only reason i fall asleep,
Is so that my heart doesn't collapse.

Fall apart so briefly,
So quick into your hands.
That I cannot bare to control it,
Because I don't know where I'll land.

You are no longer around to catch me,
When i fall so quickly out of sight.
You can no longer tell me it'll be okay,
Or tell me everything will be alright.
