The Cloth of Time

by Lenny   Sep 1, 2006

Heartrending parables they weave this cloth,
Pink romances, crimson broken hearts,
Blue escapades, And the emeralds of ten thousand tears,
Darn the Technicolor mantle,
Patchwork existence or knitted dreams,
Veneer toothless and fragile stitches,
Sewn each love, each friend, and kin,
Brittle the fabric with counterfeit age,
And sweet the touch of the timeworn piece,
The tears of lost love, and broken trusts tumult,
And the embraces of happiness clutch the pieces as one,
Temperamental the blanket remains,
Forever the nostalgia, the reminiscence
Of the lifetime, the history, and the mistakes,
The cloth of man weaves an era,
Legacy persists,

As child sews its patches
To the quilt of time. . .
