What my summer taught me...

by Sorefromreality   Sep 2, 2006

This summer was so insightful and long
it started out as a simple vacation from school
but after a few weeks of living on the edge
we began to break the rules

the one we thought had finally changed
turned out to be more of a player
i lost love and lost sight of what was important
and we all revealed more inner layers

an innocent kiss led to deception
and promises made were easily broken
though some people never saw it coming
the beginning of the end was betokened

we all laughed and cried and faked our smiles
and broke through all the blinded pain and smoke
we learned to live for what we have
and began to carry on and learn to cope

when someone asked me how my summer was
I said i learned about life's surprises
i learned that kisses weren't set in stone
and some words will always be lies

but through it all I don't regret anything
It made me feel things I never wanted but did
helped me focus on what was real
and what was important

I loved it all, the good and bad
I learned from what made me happy and sad
These months for me proved insightful
And nothing i did will be regretful
