Lost Girl

by herewithme   Sep 3, 2006

They called her the Lost Girl
her real name wasn't known.
She wandered the city streets
looking for something not shown.

She looked for it day and night
but never did she find
the love and the warmth
that she remembered so clearly in her mind.

A new day, a million new faces
but not a single friend
she wondered if she'd be by herself
until the bitter end

no one seemed to notice
the girl on top the ledge
what was here for her? Nothing.
She was getting closer to the edge

a strong wind blew throughout the town,
as a sad girl sat alone.
She felt a warm hand on her arm
"Isn’t it time to go home?"

Yes, it was time for her to leave.
She spread her arms like wings
and as she disappeared on that cold, dark day
no one saw a thing.
