My Best Friend

by jay   Sep 7, 2006

The sunshine streaming
through the rain-washed leaves
playing on your face
makes my day.

The happy chortles,the carefree glee are all I need
to keep me going.

Sure I know its not true-
the smirks wink out of your smiles,
your eyes betray your look.

They say you live for yourself
and I am but a pawn
in your "aim-enriched life".

"All that glitters ain't gold";
I know that already and needn't that to be told.

I don't need no admonition-
my emotions are bestowed at the altar of your pretensions;

I don't care what they say-
I want to lose and find myself in you; Yeah you're right,
May be I just want to be fooled.
