The Young Girl

by shelby   Sep 8, 2006

The church bells have rung
Outside by the sea
The young girl goes in
She's as scared as can be.
She was only 3 when her dad
Walked out the door
All dressed up in uniform
To fight in the war.
That girl is now 9
And her dad is still gone
She is always worried
He's been gone for too long.
She stares outside the window
At the fresh fallen snow
Her mom's hiding something
She' been dieing to know.
Two days passed
Then they found out for sure
Her dad was badly injured
There wasn't a cure.
Yesterday evening
Her dad quickly died
The girl locked herself in her room
As she sat there and cried.
Her father is gone
He's not coming back
All thanks to the war
The war in Iraq.
She looked out the window
And ended her life
She's now with her dad
Thanks to a sharp knife.
So that is what happens
What wars tend to do
Kill thousands of people
And families too.
