A Soldier's Delusion

by AfroAngel   Sep 8, 2006

With fear, I hid behind my gun,
But in a few moments, the battle was won.
How many I have Killed no longer has meaning,
I am a soldier and tomorrow I'll be leaving.
Time to return home, back to my country,
It has been a year since I've seen my family.

Through the airport gates, receive a hero's applause,
Well this hero is moving along, this hero has a cause.
I must reach home and surprise my lovely wife.
Home at last, away from all the strife.

I enter my home, but what's this I see?
A traitor in my camp, another enemy.
My wife in the arms of another man.
Only one thing to do, only one thing I can.
Traitors must be dealt with, must be killed,
And as a soldier, my task I fulfilled.

A few hours later, the news got around.
Police at my sides, threw me to the ground.
Now behind bars and I don't know what to say,
By my wife, my love, I was betrayed.
No remorse as I had to do what I was trained to do.
My mission, as always, kill all enemies, traitors too!

Now I'm trying to understand, because I'm so confused,
Am I being tricked? Was I being used?
Went from hero to villain, although identical were my actions,
Between the public, the system and myself...
Which needs more corrections?
