THE PROPOSAL

by Yvette O Hines   Sep 8, 2006

We met on Friday evening and went to eat dinner.
Have not seen you in three weeks.
We sat and talked over champagne and a warm fire by the fireplace.

Then we ate popcorn and watched a movie.
Boy was it heaven sent lying in your arms as we watched the movie.

You went into the bedroom and put on some soft music and asked me to join you as the soft music played.
You asked me to tell you all about my day and my plans for the upcoming week.

We talked about the past and what we wanted to do on Saturday.
You would always read me a story out of your favorite book.
I loved hearing your voice as you read me each and every story.
Your voice made me melt on the inside.

When I awoke the next morning you were not lying in bed beside me.
I called your name and you would not answer.
I went into the bathroom and you were not there.

I started to wonder where have you gone.
As I washed my face and wiped my nose.
I noticed something different on my hand.
You had placed a ring on my finger.
As I looked in amazement I noticed you in the mirror.
Standing there watching me.
You had this smile about you.

You walked into the bathroom and hugged me from behind and kissed me on the neck.
Then you faced me and kissed the ring on my finger and asked me to marry you.

The proposal that I had longed for.
