More Precious Than Gold

More Precious Than Gold
.
Is anything more precious on Earth than gold
It sounds very doubtful from what Ive been told
People have mined it for thousands of years
A back breaking life full of blood sweat and tears
.
Many have died while prospecting for gold
Their bones in the desert just lying there cold
Nobody moves them, no one has time
Theyre panning the streams or digging new mines
.
What is this metal that can drive men to lust
The lust to obtain it before they are dust
Its colour is yellow and never will fade
Not at all like us, when we start to age
.
A particular crease near an eye so bright
I remember it coming one lovely night
You had started laughing at something Id said
Then taking my hand, lead me gently to bed
.
When we finally awoke to a brand new day
I noticed the crease, it was here to stay
It was born from laughter and plain to see
More precious than gold? Well it is to me
