The Ghost of Perfection

by Isabella Bedard   Sep 12, 2006

Behind the self-confident glare,
the long perfected hair,
the lip-glossed smile,
the hippest style,
the glowing eyes,
the thinning thighs,
the manicured nails,
the popular tales,
the expensive clothes,
there lives this ghost
of everything she knew;
she lost it all, to you
within the heartbreak of the year
and you'd never fear
the tears behind her mascara eyes
for you'd never see the lies,
no, you'd never see her at all.
