You weren't there

by foreverbleeding   Sep 12, 2006

You weren't there
you weren't there when i was in all those plays.
the audience clapped but i didn't hear the sweet sound of your hands applauding me.
i looked in the crowd but didn't see your smiling face.
you weren't there.

you weren't there.
you weren't there for my competition.
you didn't see me dance.
i looked but i didn't see you in the stands.
you weren't there.

my first school dance, you weren't there.
my first day of junior high, you weren't there.
seven birthdays, you weren't there.
more than 2555 days, yes i counted, you weren't there.

i don't hate you.
i don't blame you.
i love you.
and i just wish you were here.
