Unfair

If he hits you once
he will do it again
any man who hits you
is not your friend

he seems so nice
a friendly guy
but if only you know
it was all a lie
he raised his fist
to his partners face
to put her back
into her place
he abused her daughter
oh so many times
do you call this
a friendly guy?

His partner shot back
stood up for her rights
but this only resulted
in endless fights
dishes thrown across the kitchen
Her daughter takes their son to his room
she comforts him the best she can
and tells him it will be ok soon

she is a strong little girl
but at the age of eight
she believed it was her fault
she was the mistake
so the girl held in her tears
stayed strong for her brother
resented that man
soon stood up for her mother

This only caused problems
but she couldn't stand it
she would not sit and watch
as her mother got hit
as time went on
she grew angry and resentful
the fighting slowed down
but she knew it was bull
she saw her mothers
silent tears
she kept this in
for many years

And now she suppresses all emotion
she never desplays
in fear it will bring back
those awful days

she never thought
she had it bad
she never thought
it would make her mad
she never knew
that it was wrong
she never knew
how to belong

her mother loved him
thats for sure
that is why she stuck around
and put up with it all

but im guessing
you would never suspect
a day in your life
this is why
i cry at night
i know it is wrong
it is far from right
but you get that
it is just part of my life
