Just to care

All i needed was one person
someone to tell me
to say not to go
and in that moment
the knife would have fallen
slipped right through my grasp
straigh to the floor
and i would have crumbled
sunk right down beside it
wet tears leaking from my eyes
just to know that you care
all i needed was some warm touch
some breath of air
yet when i looked out
nobody was there
and that knife did not slip
my grip not loosened
not even as i slid
dropped down to the ground
and the deep crimson began to ooze
with each small drop
a puddle began to form
i gasped for a breath
and as the air sank in
it was finally over
when all i needed
was somebody to care
nobody was there
