The Wishing Well

by Serena   Mar 11, 2004

A lone child walks towards town square,
Remembering the happy times his family had there.
In the center lies an old fashioned well,
Where nests of robins and sparrows dwell.
He takes the jar he’s been saving for years,
Empties the coins as he dries his tears.
Please…will you hear my wish tonight…
Grant it now make everything all right.
I know you must have a lot to do,
But I only have one wish to ask of you.
Make my mommy better fast,
The doctors say she probably won’t last.
Every night I can hear daddy cry,
Please don’t make us say goodbye.
I want her to hug us once again,
So please dear well do all that you can.
I know I don’t have much money to give,
But what would I do if she didn’t live?

A child sits empty and alone, his heart filled with despair,
Although he’s only 8 years old, he knows life isn’t fair.
He returns to the edge of his town’s old well,
Trying to forget the pain and destroy this newfound hell.
This is the very last time I shall come to you.
My mommy is gone, now what will I do?
She chased away the monsters; she chased away my fears,
Who will be there at night to kiss away my tears?
I thought that you could save her with the magic you possess,
But you chose to ignore me, and deny my one request.
Now my heart is broken, I doubt that it shall heal,
My body is completely numb pain is all I feel.
Daddy can’t look at me he breaks down into a sob,
Why didn’t you do anything, I thought it was your job.
I wished with all my might, but you didn’t even try!
Never again will I come to you, your magic is a lie!

No it's not a true story. I was just trying to broaden my horizens and write about something other than love. If you really want an ending for it thats fine just give me an idea on how you want it to end, happy or sad?
