A special soldier

I knew a special soldier a long time ago,
so i wrote for him this poem,
he was very brave in every way,
and will be remembered everyday.

he was a doctor and served his country well,
so here is the tale i am going to tell,
one day in battle he got a letter that his brother died,
he died some inside.

he kept missing his sister and father,
he missed his beautiful wife and mother,
he couldn't wait to be home,
but for then all he could do was sit in gloom.

he told tales of his childhood while bandaging the wounded men,
met a man named Ben,
who had a wife and children,
but he died the next morning.

he thought about his dear wife,
and prayed that he could go home and smoke his missed pipe.
so he waited for that day to come,
then the cheers went up like pounding on a drum.

the war was over,
and Joy raced through him in roars,
he watched as the mens who's lives he had saved,
greeted their families with smiles on their faces.

finally he got a glimpse of his family when he reached home,
his wife kissed him and said'i knew you would be home soon.'
he was a great man,
he was not only that and a hero but hes my grandfather and i am proud and glad.

this is maybe 96% true,oh and there will be a part two.
