A child Lost

by Dawn Ellis Cantrell   Sep 17, 2006

I have a child lost in life
He lost his 'papaw' at age five
How can I make him understand
That he is in a better land
He asks, Why did he have to go?
All I can say is "I don't know"
He sits alone with tears in his eyes
I sit and watch trying not to cry
How to make him understand
I know how he misses this man
Knowing my child is lost
If I could bring him back to us both
I would do it at any cost
"It's alright" I tell the child
Knowing slowly I am dying inside
A child lost in his little world
Losing a man he couln't love more
A man full of strength
A man filled with so much love
A man no matter what
Would always be tough
In this child I see the hurt
A hurt not even mommy can cure
I see the lonely tears down his face
A look I can't make go away
How do you explain
"why" it ends this way
When you can't find words to say
Do you say,
When you get to heavens door
You will find who you are looking for
Or do you say:
Just look up at the sky
Look to God for the answer to why
What do I say to this lonely child?
Mommy will walk with you
Through every mile
To help his little lost mind
No matter how long it takes
I will always have the time
Until he goes to God above
Help me, help him
To see it this way
Baby Tyler.Papaw will always LOVE!
