Fight for life

They where waiting for this moment
They where waiting for their time
They where waiting in the dark
They where waiting for that “smile”

They summon up there courage
Then their moment finally comes
And with a simple nod
Off into the night they run

The sounds of bullets fill the air
The sounds of screams fill his head
With his shoulder to the brick wall
He remembers what his captain said

He grips his gun and turns the corner
Bullets fly past his ear
And his blood runs cold
As his body fills with fear

Blinded by his fear
And with his sweaty palms
He pulls the trigger back
And now things seam strangely calm

Laying on the bed
With a bullet through his heart
His eyes fill with tears
And soon his slowly parts

His heartbeat runs flat line
And this is completely true
As he remembers what his captain said

You can’t kill heroes.
