In the dark of the night

by Vonnie McHugh   Sep 20, 2006

As I sit on my own,
Not a sound around me to hear,
Oh! and I wonder I wonder in fear,
Music is playing soft and sweet,
The moonlight shines onto the street.

I sit and I think into the night,
Whatever was that noise that gave me a fright!
I now there is nothing to fear,
But yet I sit so still right here.
Afraid of the night.
And all the stars so bright,

I think to myself how will I cope,
But deep in my heart it is full of hope,
The night is so long,
Oh! how I pray for the birds first song.
