Pavor Nocturnus

Pavor Nocturnus

so secure in the arms of damnation
held down to taste the burning sensation
i fail to see the beauty in the pain
i fail to see what it is i have to gain

from a cold ember to the flame
everything will remain the same
i will forever curse your name
through these eyes of shame

heaven's lights are all burning down
forming new dreams in which i'll drown
i refuse to believe the dreams are sent from You
i refuse to believe the defeat I face in them will come true

face to face with the taste of agony
where only Your love can set me free
the nightmares only prove to me
that i have become the enemy

i can now see the beauty through the pain
but i still fail to see what You had to gain
with nightmares that only proved to me
that I was the enemy, i was the enemy.
