A Surgeon's choice

by Shane   Sep 22, 2006

What if when life should start
A Surgeon went and took the heart
It's a taxing thing
All people know
When the heart loves
It fails to grow
It stands alone on the edge of today
Wishing if only to get away
So what use then
Is this beating bomb
Without it we'd be
Forever calm...

What if when life should start
A Surgeon thought "why take the heart?"
To fall in love
The greatest slip
Start with your hand
But end with your lip
To set the soul aflame
Whenever you hear that name
Hoping always
Becoming two
Drowning in love
Forever true...

Elegance would truly
Lack its hold
Elysian Fields
No longer paved with gold
All without that simple word

A word trapped and silent.
