True Friendship

by Poppa   Sep 24, 2006

There is a thing called Friendship,
that starts so subtly
A casual acquaintance,
that you see just briefly.

But as you are around them,
you find there is much more.
And this new found thing called Friendship,
well, it's opening up a door.

And as the door does open
and the other lets you in.
You sometimes look in wonder
of how it did begin.

Sometimes this takes only days,
or many, many years.
mostly there are happy times,
but sometimes there are fears.

If it's a lasting Friendship.
and enduring in every way.
It's someone you can talk to,
any time on any day.

With Friendship in the balance,
always knowing what to do?
But then is that "True Friendship,"
or just a relationship of two?

Friends in your lifetime
will come and go.
Just like the springtime
melts the winter snow.

Nevertheless, "True Friendship"
is Oh so sweet.
With only the slimmest of a chance,
a "True Friendship" you will meet!

But as you know, God holds the key.
All knowing is His way.
As He leads us down the road of life,
not just living for today!

That's why I know "True Friendship"
is such a priceless gift.
With a purity so beautiful, anytime,
it gives your heart, God's all-inspiring lift.

this was an amazing stanza. Sometimes you think you have a true friend, and maybe they are a friend, but not as special as a true friend...I've found this out a lot. Very nice poem! Jpoet*
