Babby

On a friday night, about eight years ago, I was busy babysitting the kids

that lived three doors downs. It was getting late and I was running out of ideas on

how to keep them busy. Devon was four and Kylee was six, there is very little

both would equally enjoy. Then I got the bright idea to play hide-n-seek. I didnt

trust Devon and Kylee to play outside. I made the suggestion that we stay

indoors.

The game was going great! Kylee, Devon, and even I were having fun. It

was his turn to count. We both ran around the house like stealth snippers

searching for a creative place to hide. Then it hit me, as I ran through the living

room, what about hiding behind the big screen t.v.? Little did I know that it would

be the last time I would babysit Kylee and Devon.

I stopped dead in my tracks in front of the t.v. Kylee looked at me and

smiled, she was thinking the same thing. I went first. I gently placed my right foot

on the speaker that sat next to t.v. I gingerly lept beind the mammoth televison

and turned around to help her over. We waited, crouched low, in absolute silence

for Devon to find us. If he could. Minutes went by without us being discovered.

Every now and then I could hear the pitter patter of his little feet run in front of the

t.v. More time went by and he still couldnt find us. Kylee was trying hard to muffel

her giggles every time Devon would beg for us to come out.

\"Hey guys! Come on! This isn\'t funny. I\'m done playing. Whered\'ya go!\"

Devon screamed at the top of his lungs in a very girly voice. He had had enough.

The game was not fun anymore, so we decided to come out.

\"Okay, okay. We\'re comming out.\" I said.

He paused, slowly turned towards our direction, and looked in startled

amazement at the t.v.

\"Are you guys in the t.v.?\" He whispered.

I popped my head up from behind the big screen and he instantly understood.

That is when I realized, the t.v. is alot bigger from the backside. I asked myself,

\"How am I going to get out from behind this thing?\"

As I took a look around at the perdicament I was in, I became slightly panicked. I

figured I would take it slow and get Kylee out first. She reached up as far as she

could to the top of the t.v., I put my hands under her butt, and pushed her up as

far as I could. I was stronger than I had originally thought. Kylee flew over the

television, taking out candel holders and pictures alike. Now it was my turn. Since

I literally threw Kylee over, I was over confident in strength. I placed my hands on

the big screen, looked down on the trampled wires and cables I was standing on,

took a breath, and jumped. Either I did not jump high enough or I was not strong

enough, I did not make it over. In fact, I smashed my chin on the faux wood trim

around the t.v. It really hurt, I felt blood run down my neck, and I wanted to cry,

but wanted to get out more. I tried again and again, each time to no prevail. With

my dwindeling confidence and growing panic, I began cry anyway. Finally, Devon

ran to his room and brought back a tiny wooden step stool. I snatched it from his

hands and used it to get on top of the electronic prison I had condemed myself to.

I swiveled around, leapt down with a huge smile on my lips, only to come face to

face with Kylee and Devon\'s father. My smile faded, I felt the heat rush to my

face, and the tears began to flow again. The anger was obvious. Then I heard it,

the crash of the big screen hitting the wood floor. My whole body cringed at the

sound. His anger turned to fury then to saddness. Their father pointed to the

door. I looked at the siblings, who were staring at me with dinner plates for eyes,

then I ran to the door. As the door was closing behind me I saw one last glimpse

of thier dad; face red with emotion and shakely falling to his knees to touch the

reminece of his fallen friend.

\"Don\'t you ever step foot inside this house again!\" He screamed.
