Where Are You?

by Elana Mazzarolo   Sep 28, 2006

Sometimes I wonder where you are,
I'm tired of waiting around.
I always thought that you'd be here by now,
But you're nowhere to be found.

I walk these streets day after day,
Wishing you walked next to me.
But nothing's changed, I'm still on my own,
And wondering if I'll always be.

So many times I've cried for you,
I've called from the depths of my heart.
I'm asking you to rescue me,
To keep me from falling apart.

I want you to hold my hand in yours,
I long to see you smile my way,
The light in your eyes that reflects your love,
And speaks what no words can convey.

As these pictures fill my consciousness,
The darkness settles like a shroud.
The silence of the twilight sky
Makes my heartbeats seem so loud.

The multitude of the stars above
Remind me I'm still alone,
The crickets chirping, the lapping waves
Seem to say, "You're on your own."

WIth a look of pity on his face,
The moon casts down his silver beams.
With one last look I steel my heart
Against the hopelessness of dreams.

That is a good poem. It so well-worded. It looks like it took a long time for you to write it. That just hit home for me. You did a really nice job.
