Parental Bliss

by Kajataya   Oct 3, 2006

Your sweet breath upon my cheek is innocent and dear
I watch you sleep thankful for what is pure
It's times like this that I begin to feel the guilt love
I look at your tiny form and wonder how I could have thought such things
For in the middle of the night when sleep wont come
And your cries are never ending to the point of exhaustion
Devils play in my imagination
Bringing promise of a dark peace.

If only I could stop that breath forever
Quiet your screams and still your fragile body
I place you down and walk away
Pace and panic and fear for us both
Till finally the hours grow thin and you sleep
It is then I look upon you and realise
I remember it is not your fault and admit my weakness
Cry for it and lay blame where it is due
And thank whatever god who listens that it is over
Yes...finally it is over
Till you wake.
