Confessed Too Late

by RicaLo   Mar 15, 2004

As she lay in her hospital bed
With wires and machines hooked to her head
She thought of what laid ahead
Then she realized that soon she would be dead.
She never knew why the doctor cared so much.
When she was cranky, he made no fuss.
Instead he soothed her with a gentle touch
That she appreciated very much.
When it was time for her to die
She yell and screamed and started to cry.
For she knew that in a coffin she would lie,
But all she could ask herself was why?
She closed her eyes and passed away
Never to see another day.
Her doctor cried and walked away
Wishing it didn't happen that way.
He came to her grave three days after the date
That this once lively girl became late.
He said I love you but he didn't have to wait
To confess his love when it was too late.
