I Remember

I remember when I heard the news,
I dropped to my knees,
And said this can't be true.

It's all a lie,
It isn't true,
They made a mistake,
For someone who looked like you.

Couldn't deal with the thought of you gone.
Cried my heart out,
And prayed to God, they were wrong.

Word spread around,
It made the news four days in a row,
Seen the picture of your Grand Am,
Underneath that Semi,
And I just lost control.

Reality set in,
That picture still branded in my head,
still sitting here wishing it was me instead.
