True Cowgirl

by Anton   Oct 8, 2006

I see off into the distance
A person sitting on the ground
Its midnight and theres a campfire
Its glowing bright enough to show

The figure of the person sitting there
Its a cowgirl and she is sitting out
Under the night sky watching over
Her heard of cattle and new calfs

She is guarding them from
The hazards of the wild
She has to protect them from
All the wild dogs but her sitting

There by the warm glow of the campfire
She looks so beautiful and lonely
But she is sitting out there out of
Determination and love for her calves

Sitting there all night only leaving
To rush home to eat and right back out
To her tiring job of protecting her young calves
Knowing that she is the only protection they have

There she is again sitting out there
Under the night sky and wishing
She was in a warm bed but knowing
She needs to do her job and be out there

You know one thing this lady is not
From the city because there is no TV
NO Phones, NO hair dryers, No makeup
She is a true Cowgirl from the ranch of life
