What I Am

by JacKnife Jessica   Oct 10, 2006

You told me to be what I am
When my eyes were closed you told me to see
When I was locked up you told me to be free
When I was reading you told me to write
You told me to calm down and not to fight
You told me to get fixed when I was broken
You told me to pray when I would sin
When I was listening you told me to talk
When I stopped you told me to walk
You told me to breathe when I held my breath too long
You told me to sing your favorite song
You told me to laugh when I would cry
You told me to tell the truth when I would lie
You told me to need instead of want
You told me to run when I could not
When I would whine you told me to wait
When I gave up you gave me faith
When I would sleep you woke me up
When I would give you gave me stuff
You told me to come early instead of late
You told me to love and not to hate
When I did not want to you made me believe
When I couldn't open the door
You gave me the key
You help me finish
When I wouldn't start
You told me things you meant from your heart
When I counted to nine you counted to ten
You told me to start over
Cause this is the end.
