The Lonly Child

by Dark Aura   Oct 10, 2006

Of all the things good and bad,
That could've happen to this child,
It had to be the one thing,
That a child could never understand.

Of course his parents fought all the time,
But to think,
That this child's mother never came back from work,
Was unimaginable.

He turned to his dad,
Who was red from all the crying and drinking,
And asked only one question.

"Where's mommy?"

As his dad walked out the door,
It seemed that his heart was ripped out.
For there are no weapons stronger than words.
They hit faster than a speeding bullet,
With more force than a battering ram,
And never fail to hit the heart.

Of course his dad never came back either,
Or so they think...

For that night this child was crying,
There was a flicker of light,
In the shape of his dad.

Was it only his sadness deep down inside calling for his dad?
Or was it really his dad descending from the heavens,
To say good night for the last time,
To his one and only child.
