One of Many Lessons From Marshall

by Poetvoices   Oct 11, 2006

I have the ability:
a pen
a pencil
a piece of paper

I have the ability:
love
emotions
human knowledge

I have the ability:
smarts
vocabulary
lots of creativity

It's mine:
a ubiquitous
knowledge of
the English
language...

It's mine:
People will
know my
words. I will
gain respect.

It's mine:
The moment
I decide to
make it that
way, I own it.

The future is folding paper.
Everyone gets exactly one
sheet. What you do with it
is all up to you. Some choose
to ignore lessons and crumple
their futures into a tiny, little
ball. Others choose to let
lessons absorb, and they
know how to make the
perfect plane, and, truly,
before they even know it,
their futures are soaring.
