To Whom It May Concern

by Poetvoices   Oct 11, 2006

Dear Anyone,

You walk by every day.
Don't even glance my way.

Together, we have a class.
Incorrect answer, you point and laugh.

You give speeches on TV
about troubled youth, but you don't know me.

You own a farm just down the road,
and you look down on my small abode.

You have a nationally televised talk show,
but I won't call. I don't want to go.

You work at the factory that made this paper
on which I write my next depressing caper...

You work at the store we've always gone to,
and you sold me this knife. I know what to do.

You own the funeral home my parents chose.
You give them a free bouquet of rose.

You dig the hole for to be my grave
and place the tombstone, "No longer sin's slave."

It seems you're talking to more than one person in general - which makes the title so perfect...for people who look down on you; people who preach, giving advice when they know nothing of your situation

just two nitpicky suggestions: i really don't like the use of the word "wanna", it won't hurt the syllable count to say "want to". and for the sake of grammar, "bouquet of rose" is just slightly off...it *needs* to be "roses", though that would mess up the rhyme, so maybe (for syllable count + rhyming's sake), you could change it to "a single rose".

i hope this works. every time i try to comment on someone's work, this website signs me out! and i have to log back in and do it all over again, and it keeps signing me out until..for whatever reason, it finally works. this is why i'm not a very active person on the R/R/C thread ^_^"
