Don't look so far

by Jane Lowe   Oct 11, 2006

All our lives, we'll wait for someone
Someone to pick us up and carry us away
Someone to tell us we'll be OK
Someone to tell us that forever they will stay.

All our lives, we'll be looking for that one special dance
The one special dance that will sweep us to the moon
We'll look for that one kiss
And give our own away to soon.

We'll look for love
We'll look for kisses of passion and lust
We'll look for looks of mutual agreement
We'll look for everlasting trust.

We'll look so far away and for so long
We'll miss the life we want in front of us
We'll forget about what we wanted, forget about what we were looking for
We'll forget about living.

Then that someone will show up
They'll bring us back to earth
They'll tell you they're all you need
And we'll smile, and we will live.

I only wished the bottom rhymed like the top. Overall though, I really liked the thought behind the poem. Very nice! Jpoet*
