Under.

We go slowly, slowly down,
Deeper dug into the grave.
Under foundations that,
Have already been spoken.

Had their time to shine,
To be brave and important.
Now, here’s my chance,
To make a print in time.

Foot embedded into fresh,
Remains of another one.
Fossil prints an edge,
Curve like no other.

Under influence by,
The world, they drown.
Fall below the fading radar,
Becoming nothing but a memory.

Under the shine of big lights,
Eyes are blinded and broken.
Impact too enduring,
Now they sleep not knowing.

Engrave with simple words,
Ones that outpour some emotion.
Under a pillow of memories,
Tears will cover their shaken faces.
