Flickering Flames

I don't take all credit for these words. Some of them came from my wonderfully sweet and perfect boyfriend. Thanks babe...

So I sit and I watch the candle’s flame…
Flickering in the silent night
Like the moon in the dark, night sky—
It’s the only source of light
The flame dances around,
Somehow controlled by an unknown force
Continuing to still burn though,
Like a river running its course
The little light reminds me so much of love,
With its quirky little ways
Both strong-willed flames and love can last for years,
Or only days
The flame stands tall, bright, and strong,
But underneath its source of light,
The wax runs down, like a single tear,
Of a heart clouded, by scars, and fright
Love, can just suddenly start
Then for no apparent reason, just quit
Just like a candle flame can burn out,
Just as quickly as it was lit
